X51 is
Homestead General Airport and LAFA's "Home Playing Field".
Homestead General is located on the
edge of the Everglades in the South Florida Redlands, and is surrounded by
scenic farmlands. The numerous canals in the area make excellent visual
references for local VFR flying, as does the nearby channel 6 transmitting
tower. The ultralight field (9U & 27U) is located at the North end of
the airport.
In order to maintain safe
separation from GA traffic, the maximum pattern altitude for ultralights is
500'.
