X51

(Homestead General Airport)

X51 is Homestead General Airport and LAFA's "Home Playing Field".

Homestead General is located on the edge of the Everglades in the South Florida Redlands, and is surrounded by scenic farmlands.  The numerous canals in the area make excellent visual references for local VFR flying, as does the nearby channel 6 transmitting tower.  The ultralight field (9U & 27U) is located at the North end of the airport.

In order to maintain safe separation from GA traffic, the maximum pattern altitude for ultralights is 500'.

The Aviation Department's Operational Directive No. 54  which covers the Aircraft & Ultralight Operating Rules and Procedures at X51 can be seen in Adobe Acrobat format by clicking HERE.

The Aviation Department's Operational Directive No. 003 pertaining to airport refueling regulations can be seen in Adobe format by clicking HERE. (This directive relates primarily to regulations affecting hot refueling of turbine helicopters, but it contains general information that apply to all other aircraft as well).
